Her vocals inspired Jackson Browne to take notice and mentor her in her song writing.
Artist of the Year The Santa Barbara Blues Society 2006!
Winner of the MAVRIC Independent Music Award in 2009 for Folk Song of the Year.
She has twice been named Indie Artist of the Year by Singer Magazine.
Kacey, an only
child from Washington DC, grew up with a guitar for a best friend and music as her
refuge. She always knew that music would be her life’s path and after finishing her
degree in business and finance packed up her guitar and headed to California.
After
spending many years writing, performing and touring, constantly honing her distinctive
and edgy style of rock/alt-country, it came as no surprise that her second release
DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH conveyed an honesty that has both defined her life and her music.
In 2006 Kacey was named Artist of the Year by the Santa Barbara Blues Society and
has represented them in the International Blues Competition in Memphis. Her song
Feather in the Wind won the MAVRIC Independent Music Award in 2009 for Folk Song
of the Year and she has been twice named Indie Artist of the Year by Singer Magazine.
Haunting and thought provoking, Kacey’s vocal delivery and song-writing talent has been likened to that of Shelby Lynne and Lucinda Williams, high praise indeed for this talented musician and performer.
The emotive power of her nuanced vocals, her impressive skills as a songwriter, and the tenacity to back them up, were rewarded when Jackson Browne took notice, and spent a brief time mentoring her in her songwriting. “I remember being excited to actually share the concept of writing with him. What a gift — like, ‘Wow!’ — to get to have that moment. I always felt inspired after our time together, and it taught me to try to be encouraging to everyone else. It was one of those small stones that the universe gives you, like it’s saying, ‘You’re pretty cool. You’re on the right track. You’re where you’re supposed to be!’”
Kacey has now written and produced her latest release FILL YOUR CUP, an album mixed in Nashville by Grammy award winning David Z (Prince, Etta James and Jonny Lang). The blend of styles range from the raw rocking anthems of It’s Alright, I Want More and Reserve The Right, the folksy Feather in the Wind, organic soulful ballads such as What If I Really Love You and Whatcha Gonna Do and the bluesy Set You Free. Mixed with the bluegrass tinged Two Trains, the plaintive longing of Sunday Mornings, the lustful and evocative Under My Skin along with the love letter that is Fill Your Cup and it all adds up to a stunning collection of Kacey’s brand of Americana music, yet delivered with a uniquely soulful edge.
Kacey has collaborated with many artists and musicians, including Jackson Browne, Jimmy Calire (America), Greg Douglass (Steve Miller Band, Van Morrison), Marty Fera (Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey), Bill Flores (Albert Lee, Jim Messina), Joe Molland (Badfinger), Gary Scruggs, Chris Slade (AC/DC, The Firm), David Sutton (Lucinda Williams, Melissa Etheridge) and Kim Wilson.
As Kacey says, “For me, it’s all about the music. As a writer I’m able to speak my truth. As a listener, music has always been my sanctuary and salvation. If I can share that same gift with my audience and connect in a way that nurtures and inspires them, then I’ve honoured my gifts and there is nothing I would rather do”.

Ben Rogers
Ben's voice stands front and enter. Even when he shifts into a more Dylan-esque folk track like The Bums of Easy Street, he's engaging and 100% believable. He can sing about Cowboys and Indians (although again the 7-minute slow burner is more about racism than your typical Western nare-do-wellism), dust bowl epics or broken hearts and you never question the sincerity of his characters."
-Herohill.com
"...Ben Rogers could be advancing big time...(He) lists everybody from Tom Waits, Johnny Cash and Marcel Duchamp as influences and, sure 'nuff, you can hear it in the music, fresh but well steeped."
-The Vancouver Province
"Quite a sonic Extravaganza by an ambitious new songwriter."
Paul Myers (TV Week)
“Too Cool.”
-Swerve Magazine, Calgary
"Ben Rogers is as cheeky in person as he is on tape. He possesses a unique voice and wit to match."
