Deer Tick is a Providence, Rhode Island band that is destined for greatness. The band takes its cues from alt-country and folk, but also has a healthy dose of old time Rock and Roll. Deer Tick comes off like a cross between Ryan Adams and Buddy Holly.
On June 16, 2010, Deer Tick made their US network TV debut by playing Baltimore Blues No. 1 on the Late Show with David Letterman.
"They look like children," noted ex-Drive-By Truckers guitarist JASON ISBELL during Deer Tick’s Friday set at Habana Calle Backyard, "but play like old men who’ve been doing this their whole lives."
"This pine-tree country band came on like hardened pioneers, with cutting twang, bull fiddle and the junior-John Prine growl of singer-guitarist John Joseph McCauley III, who sounded weary beyond his years in Baltimore Blues No. 1 " David Fricke,
Rolling Stone.
